I remember as a little girl watching my older sisters getting ready for the day. I would sit on the edge of the bed watching them powder their faces, spray perfume, run a stick of a creamy bright color back and forth on their lips. They were like birds flaunting their feathers.

My work focuses on self-image, expectations, transitions, and the rituals girls perform to arrive at adulthood. I am intrigued by rules of etiquette, that prescribe what women should look like, how they should behave, and what they should believe .
